Literature Text

I am as good as dead;
I don't know how I got here
On this tiny, sullen beach.
The night is coming, I can taste it on my tongue.

I don't know how I got here
I was dreaming dreams and then I woke up.
The night is coming, I can taste it on my tongue.
I am afraid to die in the storm.

I was dreaming dreams and then I woke up
Thunder shook the trees and I hollered
"I am afraid to die in the storm!"
The lightning split my voice in two so not a soul could hear it.

Thunder shook the trees and I hollered;
The tide kept grabbing at my feet.
The lightning split my voice in two so not a soul could hear it.
I lost my balance and fell into the sea.

The tide kept grabbing at my feet
I tried to shake it off
I lost my balance and fell into the sea
It was cold against my skin.

I tried to shake it off,
The thrashing monster in the waves.
It was cold against my skin,
Its tentacle a sickly green.

The thrashing monster in the waves,
A truly ghastly sight,
Its tentacle a sickly green,
Wrung all the life from me.

A truly ghastly sight
On this tiny sullen beach
Wrung all the life from me;
I am as good as dead.
Well, this is my first ever attempt at a pantoum. I really like them, so I think I'll try my best to get good at them.

I apologize for all the weird, mediocre, and uninteresting things I'm going to be pumping out during the next week or so. I'm working on a portfolio and I need to write some not-so-good stuff before I can write something that will knock the university's socks off.

Third Verse: "Lighting", you missed an "n" in your whirlwind of typing. Unless of course you meant lighting then completely disregard this!

But not this: YOU ARE FABULOUS!
